The State of the Blog Address

Ethan Fordham   -

March 22, 2020: the very first blog post went up on the Renovation Church website. The blog was the offspring of necessity; the world had shut down just a week prior. So, what were the elders and staff to do given the circumstance surrounding the initial COVID-19 scare and lockdown? Thus, the blog was born. It was one of the ways we as elders and staff tried to encourage engagement, communication, and help during an incredibly strange and uncertain time. We did not know what the blog would turn into; we did not know how long it would last. Well, after a total of 40 posts and being well within 2021 now, the blog is here and here to stay. Here is what you can expect from the blog over the next year.

  • Foundationally Biblical: The Bible is the foundational document to all Christian discipleship. The Bible is God’s special revelation concerning Himself and His creation. The Bible is a fountain of truth. So, our blogs will do the work of expounding and explaining the word of God.
  • Theologically Minded: We use many words to explain the contents of God’s special revelation in the Bible and God’s general revelation in creation. These words and thoughts have been defined and organized by many who gave their whole life to the study of God’s word. Why? Because of the object of the study: God. Theology is worth our time because it helps us know our God. Our blogs will challenge your mind in order to raise your affections for the one who made you and saved you.
  • Discipleship Driving: This blog exists to encourage your heart and teach your mind so that you might teach others the same. Every contributor writing on the Renovation Church Blog are committed to the Biblical and theological growth of Christ’s people. In turn, as a reader, be committed to the Biblical and theological growth of Christ’s people in your life.

I, Ethan Fordham, have been honored to write and work with others on this blog. I never thought I would be in this kind of situation. I have never considered myself a writer; I will let you be the judge of that. My prayer is that this blog will be an encouragement for your heart as well as a challenge for your mind.

It’s Thursday, February 18th. This is the 41st blog post.
